Nasogastric tube insertion in anesthetized, intubated adult patients: A comparison between conventional blind insertion technique and “throat pack in situ” technique

چکیده
Background: Correct placement of nasogastric tube (NGT) often becomes difficult in anesthetized, intubated adult patients due to lack cooperation from patient and the propensity travel same course path. Preexisting throat pack is supposed resist normal passage NGT as per common belief. Only one study has evaluated this pediatric population result encouraging. Aims Objectives: Hence, present been carried out compare success rate correct anesthetized with pharyngeal (throat) its position comparison no pack. This examine effect preexisting whether it assists or resists NGT. Materials Methods: One hundred eighty were recruited for interventional single-blind study. After induction anesthesia intubation, randomized receive insertion following either blind without a (group A, n=90) technique but after The first attempt (primary outcome), procedure time, adverse events was recorded. Results: Successful considerably higher situ group compared 81 (90%) versus 63 (70%), respectively (P=0.001). time successful found comparable between two groups. Significant decrease coiling seen “throat situ” (P=0.003). Conclusion: In view considerable reduced events, can be concluded that pre-existing appropriately placed facilitate instead putting any hindrance.

[Comparison of different methods of nasogastric tube insertion in anesthetized and intubated patients].
BACKGROUND Nasogastric tube insertion may be difficult in anesthetized and intubated patients with head in the neutral position. Several techniques are available for the successful insertion of nasogastric tube. The primary aim of this study was to investigate the difference in the first attempt success rate of different techniques for insertion of nasogastric tube. Secondary aim was to investi...
متن کاملNasogastric tube insertion using airway tube exchanger in anesthetized and intubated patients
BACKGROUND A nasogastric tube (NGT) is commonly inserted into patients undergoing abdominal surgery to decompress the stomach during or after surgery. However, for anatomic reasons, the insertion of NGTs into anesthetized and intubated patients may be challenging. We hypothesized that the use of a tube exchanger for NGT insertion could increase the success rate and reduce complications. METHO...
متن کاملNasogastric tube insertion in anesthetized and intubated patients: a new and reliable method
BACKGROUND The "Rusch" intubation stylet is used to make endotracheal tube intubation easy. We designed this study to evaluate the usage of this equipment in the guidance of nasogastric tube (NGT) insertion. METHODS A total of 103 patients, aged 23 to 70 years, undergoing gastrointestinal or hepatic surgeries that required intraoperative NGT insertions were enrolled into our study. The patien...

Introduction: A Nasogastric (NG) tube insertion is a common technique in all neonatal intensive care units (NICUs). In some cases, NG insertion in infants with friable esophageal tissues may lead to some adverse side-effects, although such problems are not commonly seen. Esophageal perforation is a rare but known complication associated with this procedure. Methods: An infant (first child), we...
